Description
HBS Fasteners manufactures premium Oval Point Grub Screws, engineered for specific mechanical environments where a sharp “bite” is undesirable. The oval (or rounded) point is designed to act as a pivot point or to seat into a small groove or “V” track. Unlike flat points, the oval tip allows for consistent pressure even if the screw is not perfectly perpendicular to the mating surface. This makes them ideal for use against curved shafts or in assemblies where components need to slide or rotate slightly under tension.
Technical Specifications
-
Standard: Manufactured in compliance with DIN 915 (modified tip) and various ISO/ASME standards for specialized fasteners.
-
Point Style: Smooth, convex rounded tip (Oval Point) to reduce friction and surface deformation.
-
Drive Type: Internal Hexagon Socket (Allen drive) for high-torque installation in restricted spaces.
-
Size Range: Available in metric diameters from M3 to M20 and custom imperial sizes.
-
Design Advantage: Ideal for use against hardened surfaces or parts that require periodic recalibration.
Material & Quality Excellence
-
Stainless Steel: Available in A2 and A4 grades, perfect for marine, medical, and food-processing equipment.
-
Other Materials: Produced in Grade 12.9 High-Tensile Alloy Steel for maximum strength and Carbon Steel.
-
In-House Control: Using raw materials from our own wire drawing facility, we ensure the radius of the oval point is perfectly consistent to prevent uneven wear on mating parts.
-
Surface Finishing: Options include Black Oxide, Zinc Plating, and Passivation.
Key Application Areas
-
Pivot & Hinge Points: Used as an adjustable pivot in control linkages and mechanical arms.
-
Precision Tracks: Ideal for use in “V-groove” rails where the screw must guide a component without digging in.
-
Frequent Adjustment: Perfect for limit switches and sensor mounts that need to be repositioned often.
-
Specialized Tooling: Used in dies and jigs where the screw tip must contact a surface at an angle.
