Description
HBS Fasteners manufactures premium Taper Dowel Pins, the industry standard for applications requiring frequent disassembly without losing alignment accuracy. Unlike cylindrical pins, the tapered design allows the pin to be seated firmly into a matching tapered bore, compensating for slight hole wear over time. This makes them ideal for high-precision mechanical assemblies where components must be returned to their exact original position after maintenance.
Technical Specifications
-
Standard: Manufactured in compliance with DIN 1, ISO 2339 (Unthreaded), and DIN 7978 / ISO 8736 (Internally Threaded).
-
Taper Ratio: Standard metric taper of 1:50 (for every 50mm of length, the diameter increases by 1mm).
-
Design Variations: * Type A: Ground finish for high-precision requirements.
-
Type B: Turned finish for general-purpose applications.
-
Threaded End: Available with internal or external threads for easy extraction from blind holes.
-
-
Size Range: Available in small-end diameters from 2mm to 20mm and various lengths.
-
Surface Finish: Precision-ground to ensure total surface contact within the tapered hole.
Material & Quality Excellence
-
Stainless Steel: Available in high-grade Austenitic (A2, A4) for corrosion resistance in chemical or marine environments.
-
Other Materials: Produced in high-tensile Mild Steel, Silver Steel, and hardened Carbon Steel.
-
In-House Control: Produced using raw materials from our own wire drawing facility. Our advanced grinding technology ensures the taper angle is perfectly consistent, preventing “point loading” and ensuring a secure fit.
-
Surface Finishing: Options include Natural Finish, Zinc Plating, and Black Oxide.
Key Application Areas
-
Machine Tools: Used for aligning heavy plates, jigs, and fixtures that require high repeatability.
-
Gearbox Assemblies: Critical for locking gears and levers to shafts where a friction-tight, no-slip joint is necessary.
-
Aerospace: Used in structural components that undergo high stress and require a rigid, permanent positioning method.
-
Maintenance & Repair: Preferred for machinery that requires frequent teardowns, as the taper allows for easy removal and re-insertion without damaging the hole.
